  • The titles in the title sequence of the film ' You got served' are rather small but in Bold text. You Got Served

In the opening scene of the movie 'You got Served' , the audience is dragged in my the straight impact of the music and dancing. the up beat and high tempo music playing makes the audience become alert and aware that something is about to happen.  also when you see the to dance crews dancing , it makes you want to sit up and it literally engages you to the action. they use medium shots, close ups and low angle shots. the use low angle shots on the dance crew to make the audience feel that they are so powerful when the are dancing , like they are at their peak. they use close up on the characters to show their emotion  when they are dancing. this makes the audience feel what the characters are feeling when they are dancing. And the medium shot was used to catch the body language of the dance crews when they are dancing. this allows the audience look at the actions that lead to the dance moves being performed. the soundtrack used is very up temp and up beat. it also has someone shouting lyrics. The meaning of this may be to alert the audience that something big/serious is about to happen which then draws the audieence in at the same time.

    Fast and Furious

    Representation
The main characters in the opening sequence are Dominic who is played by Vin Diesel and Lennie who is played by Michelle Rodriguez. Dominic is represented throughout the opening sequence as an aggressive and skilled driver. Throughout the opening sequence you can see that he doesn’t fear for he’s life when he is driving. The character of Lennie is seen throughout the opening sequence as a women who has no fear and aggressive. Both characters are represented as criminals and this constructed by the props mainly. You can tell they are criminals because of the high speed cars they drive and you can see that they are trying to steal the fuel from the truck. Another representation is the muscle that is used in the movie. The same car /prop are used by the character Dom throughout the movie. This done by using the car to represent the character of Dom as a person, he’s love for black muscles cars. when you think of muscles cars, you think of power so by using a muscle car to represent Dom, it shows that he is a powerful male figure in the movie.
    Shot Types

Camera shots in the opening scene are used to create tension between the two vehicles used as well as the two characters.  Close up shot is used on the characters Dominic to show the anger and fear in he’s eyes when trying to get through the oil truck coming towards him.  Long shot is used to show the two vehicles hitting each other. Lighting is only used when something which is amazing is done to show how special and technical it is. Also to caputure the whole section of the action. For example when Lennie jumps onto Doms care from a far distances.  This affects the audience by using these affects to show little details to show the biggest things. By showing the audience the fear in Doms eyes when driving through the ball of fire, it shows the audience and feel like they want him to make it and survive. The setting is the out skirts of Mexico, no one else in sight in the scene just the two vehicles and Dom and Lennie. This affects the audience because they want Dom and Lennie to make it and survive because if they didn’t and get hurt, no one will be able to help them. The colours used are dark colours first to show how serious the mission they have to is but when they do survive the ball of fire, the colours used are bright to show the theme of happiness and joy.
    Audience
The films target audience are people over the age of 15 who are interested in skilled driving and crime related activities. The movie can be target to both genders but mainly the males. This movie is target to the social economic group of D, C1 because of the language used in the movie. The target audience hobbies are being interested in cars and crime related things and love money. All the things above attracted the target audience by showing all the features that will attract the audience in the opening sequence. By using the car and showing them racing and trying to steal oil from the truck, it shows all the hobbies and interest of the target audience.
    Institution
The writers and makers of the film the fast and furious are Chris Morgan and Gary Scott Thompson. Because they wrote the previous movies of the fast and furious series, they influence the movie by making sure it connects with the other movies. Also  , Chris Morgan was brought up with street racing in he’s home town so this influences the movie as well as the opening sequence.

    Language
Camera shots in the opening scene are used to create tension between the two vehicles used as well as the two characters.  Close up shot is used on the characters Dominic to show the anger and fear in he’s eyes when trying to get through the oil truck coming towards him.  Long shot is used to show the two vehicles hitting each other. Lighting is only used when something which is amazing is done to show how special and technical it is.
    Ideology and values
The questions being asked in the opening scene is why they are chasing a lorry? Also why Lennie is at the back of the lorry trying to take the oil?  This allows the audience to think about the message trying to be conveyed.  How important the oil on the back of the lorry is and how much money they can make of the oil. Also how much they need the money.
    Genre
The genre of the film is action and adventure. The convections used are fighting as well as action packed driving with big crashes and blowing up of objects. Other convections that I will expect to see in the action film will be villains , heroes, civilians and big explosion. This targets the audience by using all the convections of a action film and putting them into the opening sequence to let the audience see how good the beginning is and making them want to watch more or even the whole film.
    Narrative
The fast and the furious is a linear film because the film is in order. The film is introduced by the Character of Dom and how his life is like, influenced by crime and driving is his best accent of skill.  The only narrative technique used is a flash forward when Dom has a flash forward into what could happens if he continues driving straight on and carrying on to stealing the oil from the truck.  The opening sequence makes the audience want to watch on by using many convections of a action movie for example, in the opening sequence, the truck rolls towards Dom and Lennie in a car . the convection of big explosion is used to keep the audience interested and want to watch more.
The soundtrack used in the opening secene is up beat and high tempo. this adds more meaning to the scene and creates tension in the scene. by having a high tempo soundtrack, it makes the audience sit up and get more into the film. they would want the characters in the scene to survive in the scene. it would also keep them on the edge of the seats.
