Weekly Schedule

WEEK 1 January 2013
On this week , I started planning what my opening sequence will be about and also what my film will be about. I did a mind map of what I would like my opening sequence and film should be about. some the ideas I came up with are;
  • Football based - young boy wanting to make it as a football player
  • Teenagers Life- a stereotype based opening sequence about a south London teen
  • Dance- someone wanting to be a dancer and loves dancing where and whenever they can
  • Drugs - about a man trying to get of drugs
  • Crime- someone who just does crimes for a living to get money
After deciding and thinking about the one that I can fully focus and can relate to me the most , I choose to do the football based opening sequence. I choose this idea based on the reason that I play football and can relate my real life situation on the film.
Because my opening sequence and film is mainly an action film , I researched and went through some opening sequences of films that are in the genre of Action. I looked at the type of shots that were used in the opening sequence and also how much of the film do they give away during the opening sequence.

WEEK2/3 Janaury 2013
On this week, I started to do my film description. I based my film on a Teenager wanting to make it as a footballer but struggles to understand the importance of his education and feels that being a footballer and training is the only thing that motivates him. when planning this, I thought about what age certification this will be under. Although I won't be using strong language within the opening sequence , I thought it would be a 15 because of my questionnaire results. This showed that most people that did the questionnaire (target audience) watch films from the age rating 15 and  more. Therefore I thought it is only right to make my film a age rating of 15.

WEEK 4 January 2013
On this week, I created a storyboard for my opening sequence. This shows all the shots I will use in my opening sequence and also what is happening in the shots. Further more, it shows what types of shot(s) which will be used in shot. I also thought about the costume I will be using in the opening sequence. I had to think about what a footballer would wear and also if it relates to the opening sequence plot. I also had to think about the exercise that my character will be doing during the opening sequence. Therefore I thought about the exercises I do during training and bought them into the opening sequence.

WEEK 5 2013
On this week, I decided to work on where I would shot my opening sequence. The setting had to relate to the opening sequence so I only thought it was fit to set my opening sequence on the 3G  astro which is located at The Ravensbourne School. It had all the equipment I need for my opening sequence. The goals were the right size , the area was big enough and they had the right size footballs needed for the opening sequence. After choosing this as a location, I then had to do the location risk assessment as well as the location report. After looking at the potential risks on the astro , I decided it was safe enough to film my opening sequence up there.

WEEK 6 February 2013

Onn this week , I started filming my opening sequence of my film. i had to make sure that my actor (Jerome Wade) had the correct items and costume that i asked of him. I also had to make sure that i was following my storyboard and all shot types i said i will be using were used. I also had to make sure the exercises that I said I would use are involved within the opening sequence. I had to make sure all my camera shots showed and had the facial expressions to bring my character to life.

WEEK 7/8 February 2013
On this week, I started editing all my shots and making my opening scene. All the planning I made for the editing I applied into my editing and by this I mean the soundtracks I wanted to use. I had second thoughts about my soundtrack because I felt it didn't go with the opening sequence and the type of mood the opening sequence created, I didn't think it applied to the scene. So because of this , I decided to change what soundtrack I used to something the relates to the opening scene more. the soundtrack creates more meaning to the opening sequence. When editing , I had to think about what tools to use within the opening sequence. I didn't want to use any editing material that made my opening sequence cheesy and unprofessional so I had to be very careful. When using slow motion , I had to make sure it was applied in the right places so it makes the opening sequence  look like a professional industry company had made it. After doing this, my editing was completed and so was my opening sequence after the six week period.
